excerpt:"" One of the problems with trying to track the flood of wingnuttery emitted daily by Rush Limbaugh is that there's so much of it, and it's so ceaseless, that one becomes overwhelmed trying to keep up with it. But there's been a thread in his commentary this past week that's particularly dangerous, and it needs calling out. ""
examples of this shlather from Rush:
Limbaugh: So we've got hell breaking loose in Honduras. You know what we learned about Honduras? We learned the Obama administration tried to stop the coup. Now what was -- the coup was what many of you wish would happen here, without the military.
The next day, describing Obama talking to troops about the withdrawal from Iraq, he described the president thus:
"This is a guy who sought their defeat."
And then yesterday, he expanded on these thoughts even further:
This is Barack Obama, who led from the United States Senate his party into doing everything he could to ensure the defeat of the U.S. military. ... This party was doing everything it could to impugn and dishonor the military.
I am having a hard time putting into acceptable words how offensive his distorted views are. Wow..just wow!
Rush blames Obama for Michael Jackson's death. Nothing he says surprises me anymore. I can't believe people still listen to this nut case.
Even wingnuts have limits of what they will believe is true (I hope).
The GOP, like the Muslim Fundamentalists in Iran, are deconstructing from within.
We are still close to the last election and there is a great deal of ressentiment and bluster.
There can only be so many Tea Parties, boycotting the census, churches and bars packing guns, anti-science rejection of Global Warming, and other political stunts before the "base" realizes they have finally been had.
Honestly, I am not worried. Well, I am, but I am not, if you know what I mean.
I have yet to understand the following...
When anyone disagreed with any Bush policy - no matter how insignificant - s/he was un-America, unpatriotic, and a traitor. I did not categorically disagree with every minutiae of Bush's presidency, yet I did express contrary ideas, and apparently, that meant that I wished for the entire demise of this nation. Yet we made it through... we waited our turn for 6 years while Republicans held majority.
And it's finally their turn to let someone else see what their ideas might mean for this nation, and now it is acceptable to say things like this?
Rush, my friend... you lost. Only five-year-olds whine as much as you do about losing - in fact, some probably less. We endured Bush. Yes, there were contrary opinions, but I don't recall calls for a coup to overthrow him - militarily or otherwise. Stick to asking for his impeachment. At least that makes you seem less crazy.
If you are so confident that Obama is screwing this nation, and you are so certain that "the American people" see it, too, then be happy and stop worrying, because he is basically securing the Republicans victories in 2010 and 2012. In the meantime, you are looking rather un-American and unpatriotic with all of this nonsensical coup rhetoric.
Every time he says something offensive, it drives more people away from the Republican Party. Heck, in terms of the number of votes he's swung, he's one of the best supporters of the Democratic Party in the US.
Rather than comment on this chucklehead I'll limit myself to asking, rhetorically of course, who the hell is rush limbaugh!!
What an amazing orator.
Buckeye Voter, I never really thought about it that way....let me see.......hmmm.........I detect sarcasm.;~)
If Rush is any more extreme, Bin Laden will think Rush is to extreme even from Laden.
Islamic Terrorist probably have picture of Rush on the their walks in their caves. They all can retire with Rush, Cheney, Coulter, Hannity systematicaly destroying the US.
Yes ... Rush Limbaugh is trying to get our military to oust Obama.
You people need to go back to school or something ... you have too much time on your hands and it's causing your brains to warp.
I listen to Rush every day. He is brilliant and one of few who has the gonads to challenge democratic domination. He's right on, but ya'll need to listen a little more. He has NOTHING to do with the GOP, doesn't even like the GOP because they are far too liberal. He will never hold political office. Many of the lefties hate anyone with a dissenting opinion.
Bubba: More power to ya - just keep your kind of thinking to your kind of people - thanks.

If this man is still broadcasting on the arm forces radio the FCC should pull him right away this man is asking for some one to due harm to the president and that is a threat by this nut Limbaugh, what if some one told the people in Honduras to come and commit a coup on him, the secret service should be looking at what the bag of lard is saying, he have already slipped and gone to far when he said that their should be a coup against the government the government that was elected by the people.
Bubba
I listen to Rush every day. He is brilliant
Absolutely no surprise here. Coming from you who makes comments about "wetbacks" on the story of the pastor getting tased by a cop.
I think he's dead on. It hurts to hear it im sure since he's talking about your golden boy, but really, he's absolutely correct on Obama's past, goals, and beliefs. He's bad for our military and our country.
I think he's dead on. It hurts to hear it im sure since he's talking about your golden boy, but really, he's absolutely correct on Obama's past, goals, and beliefs. He's bad for our military and our country.
Over 4000 of our citizen are dead for a lie and you say that president Obama is bad for our troops, president Bush lied to the American public about Saddam and we went to war for a lie and personal reason and you say Obama is bad for our military, wow what a fool believes .
*yawn* Ignorance runs deep in America. Ok, liberals, stop and use your noggin' for yourselves just this once. Obama is expanding on Bush's tyrannical policies; imperial wars for oil and drugs(moving into pakistan and protecting.. err.. not banning poppy crops), corporate welfare, elitist protectionism(why Cheney & Co. not prosecuted for what they've done?), shifting rule of law away from constitution towards kings/dictators/CZARS, destroying sovereignty through things like NAFTA(Bushie supported) and stupid bills like 'global warming' bill. Come on geniuses, did Obama tell you he was Cheney's cousin? It's funny how the two sides of the same coin hate each other so much; both two parties leaders are kleptocrats yet both parties are too 'intelligent' to realize.
What an amazing orator.
Looks like he is pretty good at masticating as well.
"Many of the lefties hate anyone with a dissenting opinion."
And righties LOVE those with dissenting opinions? LOL!
Kai, No
Your ignorance runs too deeply to get through to you, so I'm going to chalk your case up to: "that's really sad, just keep on listening to mtv, celebrities, obama's media, and entertainment tonight to form your worldview for you."
Unnecessary and a COH violation, stop it.
Unnecessary and a COH violation, stop it.
No, its not. Nice attempt at liberal censorship though.
Rush, keep it coming....every word you say disenfranchises three more people and destroys the far right, exposing it for what it really is....the land of hypocrites and the bought and sold politicians of status quo for the rich
No, its not.
Yeah it is, Kai. You spend a bunch of words fantasizing about why someone's ignorant. Do better.
Nice moderation, teresa-498430, especially here.
Funny tyler how you never apply that to liberals. yea great Liberal moderation as always.
Tim, I have heard complaints that the vine is too conservative...perhaps it's neither. I like to pick on Rush because he is asking for it but teresa was trying to be diplomatic, expect less from me, I get in a mood and can't help myself, tyler recognises self control.
Yeah it is, Kai. You spend a bunch of words fantasizing about why someone's ignorant. Do better.
Tyler, forgive me but I'm confused as to why you're 'moderating' the motive and message behind someone's opinion, and injecting your own opinion into the thread? Your role is as a passive moderator to hold strict standards of specific behavior. My thinking that someone is ignorant is not a personal attack, nor slander. It is my opinion of someone that is lacking knowledge of a certain topic, which I've been called HUNDREDS of times here on the vine... shockingly with no response by yourself or others.
Most moderators on the web do not engage in the dialogue at hand, especially when they are supposed to be in a moderation role. You cannot remain objective that way.
Until the GOP speaks up against the likes of Rush, Coulter, Fox News and the rest of the never held office, hate mongering, fear spreading mouth pieces and make it clear that these people DO NOT speak for them they will be linked in the minds of the moderate and independent voters and will continue to lose support and elections.
Yeah, let's shut up the mouth pieces of anyone that has a different opinion. Ever been to North Korea?
Bubba: No - not to North Korea - my dad did - But if you would like to go - I have a one way ticket for ya.
Deb, I spent 13 months over there against my will on the dmz so that all Americans can speak out against their government. You don't know how fortunate you are to have that freedom.
Thanks for your service and sacrifice.!
Rush does not like the GOP- that is correct, however he aligns himself with them, because his values are more similar to them. One thing that people need to understand, fundamentally, is that he is on talk radio. In order to gain ratings, you gain viewership and if you gain people you gain money. Its a simple math equation the Dems wouldn't understand. Now lets compare Rush to all the Hollywood Dem's who are WACKED out of there minds and will do anything to get into he spot light. Sure they don't talk politics, but entertainment is their job, just like Rush. I personally find Rush to be a bit much, but thats ok at least he's not afraid to get berated from every angle because his ratings go up.
We could talk about Pelosi's grand idea to limit talk radio and make sure that for every show there is a balanced view. Your blue is showing through, and it smells of fear.
Bubba
Deb, I spent 13 months over there against my will on the dmz
You did!!?? Were you a soldier in the North Korean Army?? Were you drafted in the US Military or did you volunteer? If you were drafted than you may have a point, but if you volunteered, than it wasn't against your "will".
Knock it off! Other viners are not the topic, I will delete them if it happens again. Same with personal attacks.
Until the GOP speaks up against the likes of Rush, Coulter, Fox News and the rest of the never held office, hate mongering, fear spreading mouth pieces and make it clear that these people DO NOT speak for them they will be linked in the minds of the moderate and independent voters and will continue to lose support and elections
The republicans have been winning election with fear and lies for as long as i can remember, that is the only way they know how to play, if they get 51% to by their lies and fear they can win, Limbaugh have crossed the line he is using code words to insight one of the nuts out their to commit violence against the president, this man is a racist and he shows that to his audience, he got fried from ESPN for his racist remarks, and he have used race to inflame the ditto heads who listen to his show, Rush use code words all of the time to degrade blacks om his show with pride.
When did ESPN get so desperate that they hired Rush Limbaugh? Sad...
bubba:
I would thank you personally for your service - but um my dad was shot in North Korea and never fully recovered - So I thank my dad for his service for our country because he willing put his life on the line for me. From your statement - you went against your will.
I thank the 19 year old boy who I was totally in love with and engaged to who died in Viet Nam before we could get married - I still cry at night for that waste of a war and for the love that I lost. I cry for all those dying in Iraq for that Sh1t of a War of a Big Fat Lie.
Sorry you did not want to serve our country willingly - But I have friends and family who have been injuried or died in Viet Nam, the Gulf War and the War in Iraq who went willing no matter what the reason was to be in those wars and considering my dad's service to our country - I got nothing for you except to say. Sorry you are so bitter.
I am sadden by my losses, but I love my country and I like our President, his foreign policies, his domestic policies and his family values.
Served against his will?
Hmm...I can think of many, many American soldiers who served in Iraq even though they didn't agree with it. If you sign up for military service, then you're basically signing up to be sent anywhere, anytime, even if you don't agree with it.
And while slightly off-topic, I can think of countless Americans whose taxes paid for a war they didn't agree with, myself included, - but still had to pay. So - to Republicans whining that their taxes pay for things they don't like, such as social programs - let me just ask one thing...
How does it feel?
Deb, I was drafted. I served as well as anyone who volunteered and did my job well. When I got back home I was spat upon and called a baby killer. America was not so proud of vets at that time. I am proud to say that America is now more supportive of our troops. Freedom is not free, and as Americans (Rush included) we have every right to speak out against our government. People have died for that right.
I wrote:

Never in my post did I say that these people should shut up!
I said that the GOP should not let these people set the agenda for the GOP, that the GOP needs to distance themselves from these hate mongering, fear spreading never held office people.
Bubba responded:
Ever been to North Korea?
My family has served in the military of this great country in almost every conflict since the civil war, do not assume that all people who are in the military are members of the GOP.
The people on the left love this country are and have made the ultimate sacrifice to this great country, when you imply that the people who are in the military only support the GOP or that being part of the GOP is somehow more patriotic then the left it shows that you are doing a disservice to the military and the troops.
What does North Korea have to do with our freedom of speech? What does North Korea have to do with this thread? Why did you mention North Korea?
I mentioned North Korea because they squash freedom of speech. Sounds like you wanted to squash Rush, Coulter, and Fox News hate mongering fear spreading mouthpieces. Americans have died so that Fox and others can say what they want to say.

Where in my post did I say that Rush, Coulter, and Fox News freedom of speech should be squashed?
I did write that the GOP needs to distance themselves from these mouthpieces which is a bit of a difference from wanting censorship.
All right 3sheets. Maybe I mis-interpreted your uncomplimentary remarks about fear spreading mouthpieces. So far that fear has been justified. There are those on the liberal side that would love to ban anything from the air that doesn't agree with their agenda. I'm glad you're not one of them.
There are those on the liberal side that would love to ban anything from the air that doesn't agree with their agenda
Right wing propaganda.
You need to understand the meaning of the word liberal, before you make such a bias statement:

2. (often initial capital letter) noting or pertaining to a political party advocating measures of progressive political reform.
3. of, pertaining to, based on, or advocating liberalism.
4. favorable to or in accord with concepts of maximum individual freedom possible, esp. as guaranteed by law and secured by governmental protection of civil liberties.
5. favoring or permitting freedom of action, esp. with respect to matters of personal belief or expression: a liberal policy toward dissident artists and writers.
6. of or pertaining to representational forms of government rather than aristocracies and monarchies.
7. free from prejudice or bigotry; tolerant: a liberal attitude toward foreigners.
8. open-minded or tolerant, esp. free of or not bound by traditional or conventional ideas, values, etc.
9. characterized by generosity and willingness to give in large amounts: a liberal donor.
10. given freely or abundantly; generous: a liberal donation.
11. not strict or rigorous; free; not literal: a liberal interpretation of a rule.
12. Not limited to or by established, traditional, orthodox, or authoritarian attitudes, views, or dogmas; free from bigotry.
13. Favoring proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; broad-minded.
Synonyms:
progressive. broad-minded, unprejudiced. beneficent, charitable, openhanded, munificent, unstinting, lavish.
Well said 3sheets...well said...

Thank you I'm not to be messed with, as I have the facts and the honor of being a proud card carrying liberal that does understand the meaning of the word.
Same here, I am tired of the derogatory rhetoric associated with the use of the word 'liberal'...It gets used and abused like its some bad word...
People do like to repeat what they hear and use 'words' without knowing the 'TRUE' meaning of them...so thanks for posting the definitions...
I find it even more funny when people repeat them, not just the word liberal, but things like 'socialist or communist' just to name a couple of them, and they have no idea of their actual meaning...people don't even realize that acting like an ignorant parrot is really is quite sad...
3 sheets #2.18
Reading comprehension not taught in school these days?
Side issue, but generally speaking, not so's you'd notice.
As for your definition of Liberal - communication is all about common definitions of symbols (words in this case) that are accurately conveyed and received. The world "Liberal" in today's world no longer means what it used to. A look at the way today's "liberals" actually behiave gives the lie to your definition.
Or, since you'd probably consider Obama to be a liberal, he destroys that definition with two exchanges. First when he said,"We won!" Then later when he said to a Congressman of his OWN party who disagreed with his program, "Don't think that we're not watching, brother."
Liberals today are petty, nasty and about as UNliberal as a person can get without being a fascist.
Liberal also means intolerant of other viewpoints and liberal spending of other's money. When someone else expresses another opinion liberals call it hate, yet it is hate the liberals feel for the tea party crowd. Don't you see hypocrisy on both sides?
you'd probably consider Obama to be a liberal,
Obama is a centrist. I wish he was as liberal as you all think he is.
The bar has been pushed so far right that one can argue that Mussolini was a liberal because he was left of Hitler, it doesn't make Mussolini a liberal; and it doesn't make Obama a liberal because he is so far left of Bush and what remains of the GOP.
The world "Liberal" in today's world no longer means what it used to. A look at the way today's "liberals" actually behiave gives the lie to your definition.
Strange that in my world the word liberal was defined by the dictionary that I merely copy from, what world do you live in that gives liberal a different definition, what dictionary do you use that I'm not privy too?
The New Conservative Dictionary and Coloring Book.
It doesn't have any big words in it, either.
Bubba, I think you have your wars mixed up. Did you serve in Korea or Vietnam? When Korean era vets got home nobody spat on them or called them baby killers. That one was the urban myth of the Vietnam era. I wish I had a dollar for everytime I hear that hyperbole.
I can't believe people still listen to this nut case.
Then why do you?
For the shock value, and to reaffirm how truly pathetic his faithful believers are.
His bank account thanks you
He doesn't make much off of me. I can only take a few minutes before I have to turn the station.
Then why do you?
So when we are criticized for criticizing Rush (et al.) by being accused of not watching/listening to him (and his ilk), we can actually say that, yes, we do watch/listen to him (them). It's intellectually dishonest to form an opinion about something without facts/evidence, and, in seeking out these facts, someone has to actually pay attention to what he says.
Now, I suppose we could ignore him entirely, yet that's just as irresponsible on our part to let some of the things he says slide without challenging them, and exposing them for the outrages they truly are.
Not only is it irresponsibly to not challenge him for his idiotic statements, it's also too much fun to listen to what he has to say, even if it's for a few minutes.
Hi Syntactic Tree, My reasons are pretty well covered in your explanation. But you are missing another Reason.-----v
Hi Bummer in Oregon, Thanks for providing that other reason.
;~)
Everybody here is proving how popular Rush really is. They listen to him all day, ok some say only for a few minutes, which I douht. The person who wrote this article wanted ppl to say how terrible Rush is and how he is a traitor and we never or only listen to Rush for a few minutes everyday. This seems to have back fired. The more ppl talk on this subject the more I realize how popular Rush really is.
I can't believe people still listen to this nut case.
Then why do you?
Bubba think Rush is the best thing since cotten candy, if Rush say that the world is flat then you can't tell Bubba nothing else, to people like him Rush is God, i say he is Satan but that is just my opinion, but i do know that he a drug addict and a racist.
Now, now Jerry. Be accurate. Rush is not a drug addict.
He is a narcissistic, hypocritical drug addict.
I tuned into his TV show fifteen years ago - he was slightly less obnoxious back then - and immediately got a bad vibe.
Every comment out of his mouth was some insult hurled at Bill Clinton and/or his family.
Now Obama is in the White House, and Rush is jubilant.
If McCain had won the election, what would he rant and rave about for hours on end?
Now, I'm a conservative Republican, but I don't listen to Rush. He irritates me and his repetitious comments are usually harsh - and I'm not interested in that.
But I get to hear what he's saying without listening to him. All the Liberals who hate him listen religiously and then TELL me what he's saying now! Thanks for saving me the irritation, Liberals! I do appreciate it. ;-D
The stupidity of this man is astounding. I say arrest him for treason and torture him every day with those 'tortures' that are not torture. He is a weak, sick and I think demented man. To actually listen to his rhetoric is impossible for me. There is a limit to what the intelligent mind can endure and 5 seconds of Limbaugh is about it for me. So I guess that explains who is listening and why: they are stupid and as such do not know better.

I would not call those people stupid they are uninformed, their mind is closed and the information that they get from fox and Rush and Hannity were from the republicans from the white house who wanted the public to believe that Saddam was the cause of 911 which was a lie.

No one said Saddam was the cause behind 9/11, Jerry. From the very day it happened, it started coming out that it was Al Qaida, Osama, etc.
Me thinks its another who is uninformed...

You don't know what you're saying. Please reconsider.
This reminds me of that story about Prescott Bush trying to engineer a coup to oust FDR in the 30s (alternate link). I certainly can't vouch for the veracity of that story - just saying the current situation reminds me of it.

If this happen Bush was an elected official, but Rush is not and have never been an elected official, what he dose is for the money and keep friction with the public, he helped to get Clinton elected and he helped to get Obama elected and if he keep on with degrading of the president he will be elected again, the cowboy that was our last president did not think he just acted, and Rush and the rest of the neo-con was ready for war so some of their friends could get richer, if you go back before the war started and look at the companies that are in Iraq you will find that they were on the brink of collapsing, take a look at them now.
Limbaugh should stick with what he knows best and encourage a military coup to take control of Krispy Kreme.
Limbaugh should stick with what he knows best and encourage a military coup to take control of Krispy Kreme.
The military coup is code for something else and most of us know what that is, the secret service should be watching and listen to the tub of lard, he have already crossed the line, but he was testing the waters to find out how far he can go.
to take control of Krispy Kreme.
I think I'd sign up for that one! do they make maple with coconut?
I heard him today and couldn't believe my ears...I actually thought he said for the Honduran military might remove Obama -- but it was so fast, I wan't sure. There was no doubt that Limbaugh wants people to see President Obama as a usurper like the President of Honduras. And he suggested that a military-based removal of the President from office might be justified.

TRY READING BETWEEN THE LINES.
The HONDURAN "military"? Come on! Get serious! Did you see those twenty guys and that one tank in the pictures? That's about the whole Honduran military! ;-D
And their helicopters probably get gased and serviced at Palmerola Air Base at Tegu! (USAF)
If nothing else Limbaugh is entertaining. The sad part is a group of people actually believe his line. If one stops and really listens, all he is trying to do is bump his ratings. Anything is acceptable as long as his ratings stay high.
If Limbaugh was really interested in the good of the country, he would get out from behind the gold painted mic he uses and do something constructive. As they say, talk is cheap. Action speaks much louder.
His job is to bump ratings. That is the job of all radio entertainers. Thats what pays his salary and keeps radio stations in business. You are not telling anybody anything new. As far as action, Rush would be a lame duck to run for any type of office. Not everybody is cut out for this line of work. What Im saying is Rush is too honest.

Some of the things Rush is saying is how he fill about the president, he believes that a black man can't be smart enough to run the country, he thinks that the Caucasoid brain is superior to the black brain and that president Obama should be going in the back door instead of the front door or he should be opening the door for a caucasoid president, he just may kill himself when president Obama turn this country around, rush is an insightful racist and bigot and the country knows that, they fried him from ESPN for his racist remarks.
I bumped into these two wishful thinkers here on the Vine. Hard to say if they are inspired by Rush Limbaugh or not. These quotes are consecutive:
I think its time to wake the sleeping Giant.......
Its stirring. Quietly, but it is going to hit like a ton of bricks soon!..
He would be the radio transmitter for the army in the event of a revolt.
I thought about not responding to any of this but I just had to take a stab at it. Whether it be Rush, Hannity, O'Reilly or Fox News, the liberal Democrats are hollering just as much as the right except their hollering is sending our beloved country down the tubes. Any of you tell me how we can keep spending money we do not have (except for printing it - making it worth nothing), passing a bill that hasn't even been finished and not even read, buying a car dealership.......something I always wanted to own. NOT. Save the best for last.......or at least for the time being...........Nationalized Health care when the government can't even run the POSTOFFICE efficiently. Obama says no new taxes.......he has already broke that promise. Ok, ready for the attacks.

I'd suggest you begin by asking that question of the former Bush administration.
Nobody is talking about Nationalized health care that is a misnomer. Well maybe Rush has called it that and his dutiful followers.
OH MY GOD, how can you be so blind. Bush did spend like crazy. OK we admit it, but Obama has taken the spending to a whole new limit.
I could go on for days about the healthcare he is proposing. OBAMA is lying to everyone, his transparency is merely a skewed truth. Look at the new (Energy Bill) Cap and Trade, I don't want to have to pay an additional $2,900 a year in taxes just to see if maybe we can come up with some other form of energy with no accountability.
The taxing and spending by the Dems is outrageous, we are slowly slipping into a socialist society. Why do we have 60% in GM? Do I get a dividend paid out to me for that?
Give give give... and we won't give back because you earn too much..... Boo f'ing hoo, I am sorry that I busted my but at college and go to work at dawn every morning to support my family. I don't want to support yours too.
NOW TO SEE WHAT OBAMA IS SPENDING GO HERE
Uhm, maybe to aid the country instead of investing BILLIONS in a false war?
Uhm, maybe to aid the country instead of investing BILLIONS in a false war?
The only people being aided are Acorn, Wall Street, and the rest of his political ilk.
You have proof for this nonsense?
Bummer of Oregon:
There is no "proof" - those are the GOP's talking points.
You have proof for this nonsense?
Here's a doozy for starters: Obama's Bill hands ACORN $5.2 BILLION bailout. Talk about paybacks!

kai:
So what do you have that are facts and not crap from one source that is at it's best "dubious"
Give me a break.
kai: Here's something with "facts" for your enjoyment:

The US Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction, the Army’s criminal Investigation Command and the Justice Department are investigating US soldiers and officials in the alleged misuse of a portion of the $125 billion initially sent to Iraq for reconstruction shortly after the fall of Saddam.
Monday, The Independent’s Iraq correspondent Patrick Cockburn reported the inspectors believe misuse may account for over $50 billion, exceeding the scope of Bernie Madoff’s massive Ponzi scheme and making it potentially the “greatest fraud in US history.”
“In one case, auditors working for SIGIR discovered that $57.8m was sent in ‘pallet upon pallet of hundred-dollar bills’ to the US comptroller for south-central Iraq, Robert J Stein Jr, who had himself photographed standing with the mound of money,” wrote Cockburn. “He is among the few US officials who were in Iraq to be convicted of fraud and money-laundering.
“Despite the vast sums expended on rebuilding by the US since 2003, there have been no cranes visible on the Baghdad skyline except those at work building a new US embassy and others rusting beside a half-built giant mosque that Saddam was constructing when he was overthrown.”
“As part of the inquiry, the authorities are taking a fresh look at information given to them by Dale Stoffel, an American arms dealer and contractor who was killed in Iraq in late 2004,” reported the International Herald Tribune on Sunday.
“Before he was shot on a road north of Baghdad, Stoffel drew a portrait worthy of a pulp crime novel: tens of thousands of dollars stuffed into pizza boxes and delivered surreptitiously to the American contracting offices in Baghdad, and payoffs made in paper bags that were scattered in ‘dead drops’ around the Green Zone, the nerve center of the United States government’s presence in Iraq, two senior federal officials said.”
“Prosecutors have won 35 convictions on cases related to reconstruction in Iraq, yet most of them involved private contractors or midlevel officials. The current inquiry is aiming at higher-level officials, according to investigators involved in the case, and is also trying to determine if there are connections between those officials and figures in the other cases. Although Bell and Hirtle were military officers, they worked in a civilian contracting office.”
So far, there have been just 35 convictions for the misuse of government funds during the reconstruction of Iraq.

A CBS News investigation has obtained evidence that a subsidiary of Halliburton, the giant energy company formerly headed by Vice President Dick Cheney, knowingly exposed United States soldiers to toxic materials in Iraq.
CBS interviewed Commander James Gentry of the Indiana National Guard, who is dying of a rare form of lung cancer that he believes is the result of “months of inhaling hexavalent chromium” after his battalion was assigned in April 2003 to protect contractors from Kellogg Brown & Root (KBR) working in Iraq at a local water plant. Other members of his unit are also suffering from cancers or rashes associated with the toxic chemical, which was all over the plant.
“We didn’t question what we were doing,” a grief-stricken Gentry told CBS. “We just knew we had to provide a security service for the KBR. … We would never have been there if we would have known.”
CBS has obtained documents which indicate that KBR knew about the danger months before the soldiers were informed. KBR employee depositions show there were “concerns about the toxins in one part of the plant as early as May of 2003,” while later minutes detail symptoms of exposure, including bloody noses and rashes.
It wasn’t until the end of August that the Indiana National Guardsmen were informed that the plant was contaminated, and some say they have only just learned about it this year.
Indiana Senator Evan Bayh told CBS, “I think the burden of proof at this point is on the company to come forward and very forthrightly explain what happened, why we should trust them, and why the health and well-being of our soldiers should continue to be in their hands.”
KBR has issued a statement saying, “We deny the assertion that KBR harmed troops and was responsible for an unsafe condition.”
KBR, which was spun off by Halliburton in 2007 as a separate corporation, has previously been accused of providing contaminated water to troops in Iraq, taking kickbacks, and sending workers to Iraq against their will.

So would you think Cheney has enough problems?
So what do you have that are facts and not crap from one source that is at it's best "dubious"
Give me a break.
Well if you had the notion to actually read the article and topic at hand instead of just attack the source (Liberalism 101), you would still see that the facts are true. Obama did hand Acorn billions.
Also, griping about my source and then subsequently posting up a zillion links to a nutball 9/11 Truther site?
L.M.A.O.
Atta boy, Kai, give us a link to newsmax, where Rush Limbaugh's BROTHER David works. That site is a hotbed of conservative drivel. That's fair and balanced!
I just looked. S/he really *did* try to pass off a NewsMax article as a credible cite.
Yoo hoo, Kai! Got anything from, say, WorldNetDaily? :)
Atta boy/girl... attack the source instead of the content. Pure Liberal 101. If you really don't believe that the stimulus bill did deliver billions to Acorn, please provide proof. Otherwise, stick to the topic at hand...
We cannot prove something 'didn't' happen. The burden of proof is on you because you say it did.
I'll comment on content from a credible source.
NewsMax isn't a credible source.
If there was anyone that I would wish harm upon, Rush would be the one. I'm sorry, but where's the Grim Reaper when you need him.
He ain't getting them fast enough.
Wow, I insulted a pedophile and my comment got collapsed... amazing.
Is Rush Limbaugh trying to encourage a military coup against Obama?
Yes he is. Fortunately there's not enough stupid people in the military or in America to actually follow this idiot. He's a joke, a buffoon and a clown.
This is idiotic, like a private citizen could encourage the military to over throw the commander and chief. This article is a rouse to spill out hate against a person who has every right to his views. Trust me, the majority of the American ppl are stupid enough, they are following an administration that does not have there best interest at heart.
Ahahaha, Field Marshall thank you for providing me with your fun posts of defending Rush, the voice of the Republican party, the master that they apologize to...
I do not know of a bill that passed without first being read..do you before it is even finished?
Darlene Bays
Every Bill Bush pushed through congress and if he didn't get his way - he screamed Un-patriotic to all. Give me a break.
The PATRIOT Act rings a bell
oh, yeah, like they dutifully read each bill BEFORE Obama was President...
Barney Franke and Chris Dodd said that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac was in great! not!
Why is it that every Republican on the Vine use the same rhectoric over and over? Do you understand why we liberals think you are brainwashed? First it begins with "Messiah" then "The Chosen One", then you add Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, and Chris Dodd in eventually.
I am new to Newsvine, but my God when I see on thread certain names, yours in particular, I already know what you are preparing to spew. Please come up with a better retort than Pelosi and Frank or Fannie and Freddie Mac. Use your own brain, read and research a little. Geez.

New Agency Proposed to Oversee Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae
New York Times
By STEPHEN LABATON
Published: September 11, 2003
"The Bush administration today recommended the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry since the savings and loan crisis a decade ago.
Under the plan, disclosed at a Congressional hearing today, a new agency would be created within the Treasury Department to assume supervision of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the government-sponsored companies that are the two largest players in the mortgage lending industry.
Among the groups denouncing the proposal today were the National Association of Home Builders and Congressional Democrats who fear that tighter regulation of the companies could sharply reduce their commitment to financing low-income and affordable housing."
''These two entities — Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac — are not facing any kind of financial crisis,'' said Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee. ''The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing.''
Representative Melvin L. Watt, Democrat of North Carolina, agreed."
This proposal was passed in the House – then blocked by a Senate filibuster – originated from none other than the honorable Christopher J. Dodd – D-Conn.....
Well, all I can say is I hope and Pray nothing like this has a chance to happen! How ugly, hateful, ignorant, and idiotic people come up with this BS is more than I can fathom! Especially so near the day of Freedom! He needs to be taken off the air and arrested for trying to destroy the country and our President! He is a Traitor! :-(
Happy 4th everyone that appreciates what we have been given in our Country!
Its funny how you say he(Rush) shouldnt have a voice and especially so close to the 4th of July. You sir sound like a Nazis. We in this country have what is called freedom of speech. The loyalist wanted to shut up the founding fathers of this country also. We are lucky that our forefathers ignored these ppl and persued there vision. We do not like everything that everyone says or stands for, but we must respect there views. As far as traitors there are alot of them in both parties that are stealing or giving special interests there vote for reelection monies. These are the real traitors. God bless CAPITALISM and HARDWORKING americans and let the lazy and novision ppl be and stay where they are. That my friends is the real Promise of America.
He needs to be taken off the air and arrested for trying to destroy the country and our President!
Happy 4th everyone that appreciates what we have been given in our Country!
What we have been given... You mean like the freedom to speak our minds, which you hope is taken away because you don't like what is being said? Happy 4th to you too.
we have been givin nothing in this country ...we have EARNED it with blood and hard work...something totally lost on the liberals.....
there's that word the libs use often enough again...GIVIN..as with all things they think they should be just givin the lives and productivity of others...
so this 4th remember what our forefathers sacrificed for..freedom and what is quickly being taken away by the libs who think they were GIVIN this country...
#16.1 Sorry, it is MS. G.H. Fine, you also may believe and say what you wish! Doesn't make it right!
#16.2 I don't believe anything has been taken from us, least of all, free speech. It is what gives you the right to be wrong.
#16.3 I also don't believe we were just "given" our rights. I had family in the military too, including a son. So you spout off whatever you choose, but please, with NO personal attacks. That doesn't help get your point across at all.
I still say Rush's words are those of an insurrectionist. My opinion only.
G.H.
I still say Rush's words are those of an insurrectionist. My opinion only.
You are not alone.
Happy For THAT! DEB! :-)
Field Marshall, if you think:
We do not like everything that everyone says or stands for, but we must respect there views.
Maybe you should tell it to Rush. And remind yourself as well:
You sir sound like a Nazis
this is directed at another viner and is a COH violation. Knock it off or I will delete.
Me too...:-)
kaitlin
Yeah, liberals and ONLY liberals are the sole reason this country is falling apart with a crappy economy...
Ha. tell me how your freedoms are being taken away? You still have your TV, house, computer, kids, free speech, car.....
#16 – "...He needs to be taken off the air and arrested for trying to destroy the country and our President! He is a Traitor!..."
You obviously cannot see or hear what Rush is telling all...and it has nothing to do with being a traitor.
This government has robbed the treasury, taken control of the media, the housing market, the banking system and the auto industry. They are also dictating or regulating the pay to a "selected few"....for now.
They are currently only two pieces of legislation away from running the medical industry (heath care for all), and the energy industry (cap & trade – or - tax and take).... for all.
And now, I must ask - what is Fascism again?
Then I find Fascism is a movement, tendency, or ideology that favors dictatorial government, centralized control of private enterprise, repression of all opposition and extreme nationalism.
Then I find that extreme nationalism is a proud loyalty and devotion to a nation and its interest.
....huge sigh of relief....at least this isn't Fascism....
This government has robbed the treasury, taken control of the media, the housing market, the banking system and the auto industry. They are also dictating or regulating the pay to a "selected few"....for now.
If it's any consolation, your hero Bush Jr. doubled the national debt to $10 trillion; the GOP majority in Congress did nothing to prevent the collapse of the banking and mortgage industries; and the U.S. auto industry has been in trouble since the 1970's.
You make it sound like the country was in great shape until November 2008. Much to the chagrin of the GOP die hards, the sun did not turn dark, the seas did not boil, and the four horsemen of the Apocalypse did not ride out of the Potomac to attend Obama's inauguration.
#16.10
If the government had taken control of the media, do you really think you'd be able to tell everybody about it?
MichelleUT
Good Question.
An obvious coup would be impossible in the US, it would tear the country apart. What you need is a coup that does not appear to be one. You can do that with a coup and counter-coup strategy, leaving people thinking that the second coup group are the protectors of the constitution and the legal rulers. They will promise new elections "when the American people are ready for it."
I hope and pray that this Congress and this Administration realizes what they are doing to this country and the freedoms I hold very dear. Too much blood shed......too many men and women have died...........for us to have the freedoms that we have taken away from us. I want my children and my grandchildren to be able to enjoy the freedoms we have. God bless the United States of America and to the men and women who have made this country the greatest in the world.
There is going to be alot more disapointment when the American ppl realize that this administration is throwing them under the bus.
Field Marshall, in all seriousness, how is the Obama administration "throwing the American people under the bus"?
Also, what constructive advice would you give to the President?
Saying, "when in doubt, sit there and do nothing," is a total cop out.
You know Rush just needs to shut up. And every other whinning arm-chair politician along with him.
Everyone is quick to blame but no one including Rush or his idiots in arms in the news entertainment business dont bring ANYTHING BETTER TO THE TABLE.
If you want to prove your ire then bring something new, better, innovative that gets the job done, brings a happy medium that equally appeases and worries ALL sides.......in our government, there will NEVER be the perfect magic bullet.
SHUT THE HELL UP until you bring something better step off.
SHUT THE HELL UP until you bring something better step off.
I think the idea that whatever the government brings is better than nothing at all is a misguided notion. It may be true, but it is not necessarily true, and it most certainly is not always true. In life, and in government, sometimes it is better to do nothing, but that won't get you votes. People want action, even if the action leads you to a worse place than inaction.
And what about you Field Marshall?
What are your ideas........
I'm not on the side sitting on my fat ass pontificating that Obama is going to ruin this country...........
Hello?
THIS COUNTRY WAS ALREADY RUINED........By an idiot cowboy who never grew the hell up and has ZERO sense.
What about me, I make no claims.
19.1 deleted for telling a viner #19 to STHU. She told Rush to STHU because he is a topic in the seed, it is acceptable.. Saying it to another commenter is unacceptable and a COH violation.
golden gate was clearly referring to field marshall in that comment and should recieve the same treatment....plus she has violated the code that says do not inflame which is all she seems to do... the only thing ACCEPTABLE about her comment was that she took your side....
katlin, it is not a reply to him . Golden Gate started a new thread and was talking about the topic of the seed. Maybe you cannot see where a new one was started but I sure can. You do know how that works don't you?.
plus she has violated the code that says do not inflame which is all she seems to do... That is what you are doing here: the only thing ACCEPTABLE about her comment was that she took your side... knock it off, this is a warning.
THIS COUNTRY WAS ALREADY RUINED........By an idiot cowboy who never grew the hell up and has ZERO sense.
Man GoldenGate, such misguided hate & anger.... breathe in..... breathe out.....
did the democrats and all you obamamaniacs stop to consider that people are becoming so fed up with all the crap obama is sending down the pike that they would even begin to say such things and not in a joking manner.....this is not the first time the word revolt has been used and it alarms me that it is only getting louder yet the dumocrats still arrogantly think they own the country and no one else has a right to express a differing viewpoint. this only fosters more anger and resentment........the dumocrats are totally responsible for causing all this dissent and division in this country.. the tea parties, the talk of succession of states, limbaugh, hannity, beck are only parroting what alot of americans are feeling,
think about this dumocrats ..has any other president in history caused as much dissent and division of this country as your annointed one?.....NO........and there is a good reason for it...I dispise what obama has done to this country and the way he has disgraced and bankrupted this country......maybe rush does say things alittle over the top but not by much..I would prefer impeachment over military revolt....but hey whatever works to get that socialist dictator out of office....have a nice 4th
Alot of good points katlin, I am very concerned with all of the stimulas moneies that are being given to many of these companies. There is no accountability as to where it is going in the first place and then these same companies are asking for more. I have a business, I have to account for all of the money that comes into my business. We (the american ppl) in the coming years are going to have our taxes raised to such a high rate due to these stimulas bills. We the American ppl are being taken advantage of and our government is doing this to us. We must ask ourselves, WHO ARE THE REAL TERRORISTS?
I generally ignore this sort of subliterate regurgitation, but this one's an easy target.

The ad hominem notwithstanding, I don't believe the Democrats think they "own the country," but, despite the fact that you apparently don't like it, the Democrats do happen to be the duly elected party in power.
and no one else has a right to express a differing viewpoint.
Do you have any support for this assertion? I haven't seen anyone denied the right to express his or her opinion.
this only fosters more anger and resentment........the dumocrats are totally responsible for causing all this dissent and division of this country..
I'm afraid I'll have to consider that nothing more than your opinion (which, of course, you have the right to express) until you provide some credible cites and documentation.
the tea parties, the talk of succession of states, limbaugh, hannity beck are only parroting what alot of americans are feeling,
I rather think it's the other way 'round. (By the way, the word is "secession.")
think about this dumocrats ..has any other president in history caused as much dissent and division of this country
I seem to remember a recent election that was so close and so divisive that the U.S. Supreme Court had to step in and decide it. Furthermore, Bush's decision to go to war in Iraq divided the country pretty evenly, although it did eventually come to the point where the overwhelming majority opposed his decision.
as your annointed one?
No one was "annointed [sic]." Obama was duly elected.
.....NO........and there is a good reason for it...I dispise what obama has done to this country and the way he has disgraced and bankrupted this country......
How, exactly, has Obama "disgraced" the country? As far as economic irresponsibility, you might do well to remember that Bush was borrowing at the rate of about $10 billion per week to finance the country's military-industrial complex via the Iraq war.
maybe rush does say things alittle over the top but not by much..I would prefer impeachment over military revolt....
Unless Obama commits a crime, he won't be impeached, and I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a military revolt.
but hey whatever works to get that lsocialist dictator out of office....have a nice 4th
You might want to avoid repeating political terms you obviously don't understand.
Hope you have a nice holiday as well!
Hi there Kaitlin.
You seem to be in an ill mood for some reason, so I'll ask the obvious question: Did you feel this way prior to November of last year, or are you still bent out of shape that Obama won in a landslide?
An excerpt from your drivel:
think about this dumocrats ..has any other president in history caused as much dissent and division of this country as your annointed one?
Can you say Richard Nixon? Or better yet, George W. Bush (along with his co-president Dick Cheney)?
Also, you misspelled the words 'anoint' and 'despise.'
I know, I know, next you'll say the Democrats are a pack of pretentious snobs because we check the spelling of words and speak in complete sentences.
This topic is a Hoot!
Now that the all knowning all seeing Obomboids do not have Bush to Flame and bash they have wisely choosen Rush, just change the B to R that makes sense.
What a waste of Bites here keep up the cow tails discussion here as the world burns!!

Must not you answered.
All those who just posted champion Rush and the rest of the American Taliban -
WOW - you guys need to get some air - Breath Deep - and wipe the slobber off your faces - it really doesn't become you.
Six months on the job - I like what our President is doing - too freaking bad for you - all I see is Sour Grapes, whining and temper tantrums. Calm down - binkies and bankies are being passed out over on the Fix Noise sites - I am sure they will accommodate your brand of opinions. If any of you had said one good word about OUR President - I might have had a different opinion, but from what I see - whiny babies, kissing Rusbo cystic a$$.
After 8 freaking long years of Shrub and Darth Vader, I am over-joyed there is an adult in the White House.
Get over it - WE WON and if you guys continue to show just how bigoty you are - you will never see the White House again.
I was Patriotic when Shrub was in office and I expect the same for OUR Elected by the Majority President Barrack Hussein Obama and I am damn proud I voted for him. Frankly I don't give a damn who likes it or not.
Now all those who want to try to convence me I'm wrong, you better brings some good hard facts and nothing from Fix Noise (that will only discredit your statements) - and please NO WHINNING.
BTW - I am a very Proud American Indian and I plan on having a wonderful 4th of July - hope everyone else decides to have a good one too.
I am not surprised that you voted for Obama. The way you worded your opinions shows the type of person Obama wants to take advantage of. You show that this would be very easy to do. Oh, happy 4th to you too.
Field Marshall - Nice try at an attack at me - didn't work - Sorry
So no facts? No Links? Nothing - I really could care what you think - but I do respect your right to voice your opinion - too bad you used your one chance to answer my comment by attacking me. I have nothing more to say to you.
NEXT
Debek, Please refrain from personal insults. COH violation. I will be forced to delete if it happens again.
Sorry Terresa: I know I should have painted with a broader brush. It won't happen again. Thanks- sometimes I need to be talked down. It just really infuriates me - it has only been six months. GEE
DEBEKI, I understand how you feel, but........ Thanks for being cool about the reminder.;~)
They want him to fix the mess that took Bush eight years to f444 up in six months, make no mistake he will fix it if the public stay with him and forget about the hate mongers from the right and some from the left to.
Who is Rush Limbaugh?
Rush Limbaugh is a NOBODY with a BIG mouth and nothing else!
Who is Rush Limbaugh?
The world largest single-cell idiot
Blackwater mercenaries and an all volunteer Army,I can see a coup as a possibility. But no wait ,we have been in Iraq for seven years and the Army hasn't exactly brought that Country under control. Probably nothing to worry about.
Wars these days aren't really meant to be won. More like maintained, certain companies make more money that way or have we already forgotten the lesson from Vietnam?
Blackwater mercenaries and an all volunteer Army,I can see a coup as a possibility. But no wait ,we have been in Iraq for seven years and the Army hasn't exactly brought that Country under control. Probably nothing to worry about.
And those right wing nuts want president Obama to fix that in six months, he is damn if he do and damn if he don't, all he needs is for the people to stay with him and America will be stronger and better than before, and we can live as a free nation like we or suppose to, and watch other nation follow us, why? because we will be a happier nation and a more prosperous nation.
Brandon you should be worried, this nut have a lot of people who listen to his show and believe every word that he says, and he dose that for money and not anything else, i am not for banning any speech but what this nut is doing is trying to insight violence on our president, when he talk about a coup he places some code words for those people who fill that they are becoming second class citizen in the country they think was theirs, the hate that some people have because of the color of the president skin, America was built on the back of blacks and immigrants, but the Caucasians race believe that they are the sole owner of the UNITED STATES and the Constitution says we the people and that is how blacks got the rights they have now, (WE THE PEOPLE) the founding fathers of this country new at one time that all the people who were born in this country would be part of the country ( WE THE PEOPLE) all of the people.
